Miss Venezuela Gabriela Isler was announced Miss Universe 2013 a couple of hours ago at the finals night for the 62nd Miss Universe Competition.

Out of the 86 Miss Universe candidates this year, Miss Venezuela silently joined the competition only to end it with a bang by bringing home the Miss Universe 2013 crown.

As for Miss Philippines Airella Arida, who has been projected to have the upper hand in the competition and was even named as the ultimate crowd-favorite of this year's pageant, she managed to make it to the top 5 and snag the 3rd runner-up spot.

Months before the official start of the Miss Universe 2013 competition, several Miss Universe candidates already gave a good impression of them possibly winning the crown.

Among the 86 lovely candidates, some of the tagged as Miss Universe Top Picks were - aside from Miss Philippines - Miss USA Erin Brady, Miss Colombia Lucia Aldana, Miss France Hinarani de Longeaux, Miss Chile Maria Jesus Matthei, Miss Great Britain Amy Wilerton, and Miss India Manasi Moghe.

However, the live audience got shocked when some of the said tough contenders, top picks, and crowd-favorites didn't make it to the top 16 whole other who made it apparently didn't get the chance to move on to the top 5.
