A 4.5 magnitude Oklahoma earthquake shook the ground Saturday following the two-year anniversary of the strongest quake ever in the said state. Nevertheless, the tremors weren't entirely felt by the Oklahoma players during the second quarter of the No. 18 Sooners' 33-24 victory over Oklahoma State.

Several sources reported right away about the 4.5 magnitude earthquake that hit central Oklahoma at 12:10 p.m. Saturday near Arcadia, nearlyb14 miles northeast of Oklahoma City. The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed the record of the tremor minutes after it happened.

Yahoo! News reported that the Oklahoma earthquake happened during that moment when Sooners' kicker Michael Hunnicutt kicked a 21-yard field goal during the second quarter of the game, and it was pretty obvious that the players weren't aware of the occurrence of a quake.

In an interview following the game, Hunnicutt even shared that he was oblivious of the quake's occurrence. Meanwhile, Oklahoma wide receiver Sterling Shepard said that although he felt the ground shaking, he simply thought it was a product of the presence of 58,520 fans cheering in Boon Pickens Stadium.

Even fans were so engrossed with the game that they didn't have the time to panic or go through the motions in front of the trembling ground. Instead they quickly returned their attention to the state college football rivalry game.

According to Marty Doepke, general manager of Pops Restaurant in Arcadia, their customers during that day simply resumed into watching the game after the earthquake. "It shook a bit, that's for sure. Everybody just kind of stopped and looked around," Doepke said. "Everybody almost automatically knew what it was and then went back to watching the Bedlam game," he said adding that there was no damage at the restaurant despite its extensive display of hundreds of soft drinks.
