Ex-Disney star and present X Factor judge Demi Lovato has recently reported that she has had a substance abuse problem in the past aside from an eating disorder. Lovato's highly publicized stint in rehab turned out to be more than just a recovery from emotional problems, as was released to the press; it was also a respite from her highly toxic environment and behavior.
Demi Lovato exclaimed that her fans would be surprised and probably stunned to know just how badly her addictions became and how it affected her actions. "I couldn't go without 30 minutes to an hour without cocaine and I would bring it on airplanes. I would smuggle it basically and just wait until everyone in first class would go to sleep and I would do it right there. I'd sneak to the bathroom and I'd do it," the "Heart Attack" singer confessed in a recent revealing interview with Access Hollywood.
Demi Lovato also came clean about her struggles with her food issues and eating disorder, something that a lot of young girls can relate to. Author of a new tell-all book, Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year, she admits that her food issues started at a young age: ""I started overeating, compulsively overeating. I would bake cookies and then eat the whole pan. I went from doing that to being unhappy with my body. I went to just completely starving myself and that turned into throwing up and starving myself and it was just this crazy battle going on inside of me. It got really difficult [and] I would throw up and it would just be blood and it was something that I realized if I don't stop this, I am going to die."
Luckily Demi Lovato has been able to get help and with the help of her mother and a good team behind her, the young star can take it a day at a time on the path to recovery.
