Kim Basinger, Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro joined forces for contemporary gem "Grudge Match", which depicts Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone as former boxing champions who come out of their retirement and back into the boxing ring for a match.
De Niro also played the role of a boxer, delivering knockouts as Jake LaMotta in the classic "Raging Bull."
"It was just common sense who did it," shared De Niro regarding the partnership with Stallone. "It could have gone either way for me if he didn't do it."
In the film, the showdown between De Niro and Stallone happens in Pittburgh, where the character played by Stallone works in a factory after wasting away his earnings in early retirement. De Niro's character, Billy "The Kid" McDonnen, thrives in used cars and bars but secretly longs to settle a grudge with a hated rival after splitting two major fights 30 years previously.
Oscar-winning actress Kim Basinger stars alongside De Niro and Stallone in the film which premiered on December 16 at the Ziegfeld Theater on Monday. The actress proved that she could still compete with the best of them when she sported a tailored, navy, three-piece Ralph Lauren suit during the premiere.
Former model Basinger completed the look with a tie and a watch chain, with her long locks swept back in a tight ponytail.
Basinger was described as "one of the most beautiful women that [has] ever lived" by ex-husband and actor Alec Baldwin in an interview in June 2013. "Even divorce doesn't muddy my view of that," shared the 30 Rock star who was now happily married to Hilaria Thompson, a yoga instructor.
Kim Basinger played the love interest and stole a significant number of scenes, alongside fight promoter Kevin Hart.
"I think this is a family movie," shared Stallone in an interview. "It's like 'Meet the Fockers,' something that everyone will enjoy the ride. It's not just for Grandma."
