14-pound baby whom his parents have named Isaiah Lawrence Johnson surprised everyone last Friday with his record-breaking weight.

A 14-pound baby was born to Nicia McNelly and Quinta Johnson last Friday and got for themselves a large early Christmas gift. Their baby boy, officially registered as Isaiah Lawrence Johnson, was exatly 14 pounds and 7.6 ounces when he was born on December 20.

Mother Nicia McNelley had been scheduled for a caesarian section at Gainesville, Florida's UF Health Shands Hospital. She and partner Quinta Johnson had expected and hoped for a simple, smooth procedure and did not expect the incredible outcome.

The 14-pound baby measures 22.5 inches from the top of his head to the tip of his toes, thus making him the second largest newborn delivered safely in Florida state for 2013.

"Me and his dad were shocked when he came out and they said 14 pounds, we could not believe it," remarked new mother, McNelley about her son.

The surprise is understandable since by normal standards, the 14-pound baby is about the same size as a normal three month-old baby. Isaiah was born already surpassing the weight of objects such as a bowling ball.

Amazing as Isaiah appeared to be, the 14-pound baby also underwent a few minor complications before he was released from the hospital. The little boy's face turned blue and promptly began shaking in the middle of breastfeeding. Isaiah's blood sugar had decreased alarmingly and dipped dangerously low.

The 14-pound boy was then taken away to a separate room from his mother and given an IV and oxygen. McNelley had been devastated by the turn of events. The new mother had to wait two more days to be able to see her son once more, as the doctor required the baby be treated for two straight days.

"He's been our strong boy in holding on and fighting. I really didn't think he would do this well but he's proven me wrong, he's made me a proud momma for sure," McNelley shared.
