Recreational marijuana will be legalized for selling and circulation starting this January in four states: Colorado, Maine, Washington, and Illinois..
According to The Associated Press, Colorado pot stores are to open staring January 1st after the approval of recreational marijuana use there.
Meanwhile, Washington will also allow the selling of pot perhaps later in the year. Several sources reported earlier that the law to legalize recreational marijuana in Washington is still pitted against federal drug rules. However, the federal government has clarified that it is not going to go against pot shops for now.
On the other hand, just this early December, a law on the selling of pot went into effect in Portland, Maine. Nevertheless, it is quite disconcerting given that the state has said that it will continue to enforce its banning of the said substance.
Illinois is also joining the revolution by becoming the 20th state to legalize the circulation of medical marijuana. But the sad part about this is that it may take about a year before people can legitimately buy marijuana since separate state agencies are drafting rules that must be approved by a legislative committee.
