Carly Rae Jepsen is set to follow the legendary Julie Andrews' footsteps as the "Call Me Maybe" singer will be making her broadway debut in 2014 as Cinderella.
For her first time on the broadway stage, singer Carly Rae Jepsen has been cast for the lead role in Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella," according to an interview.
"Broadway has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl," shared 28-year-old Carly Rae Jepsen. "And I look forward to working with this incredibly talented cast to tell this classic tale."
Carly Rae Jepsen, a Grammy-nominated pop singer, is reportedly recording and working on her new album alongside practicing for her role as Cinderella.
Jepsen, who got her big break at stardom after releasing hit single "Call Me Maybe, has some big shoes to fill for the Cinderella role. She will be performing the role made immortal by Julie Andrews, who starred in the musical's original 1957 TV version.
Carly Rae Jepsen will be replaing Laura Osnes, who was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance.
Despite this being her first project in the big broadway stage, Jepsen has a long history of musical theater going back to her high school days. She began taking part in musical theater performances during high school and has been in many productions since.
Carly Rae Jepsen is set to star in the musical production for three months staring Feb. 4, alongside some big names in the broadway industry. Fran Drescher, made famous for her role in "The Nanny," will be joining Jepsen in the musical production in Feb. 4 as Cinderella's stepmother, Madame.
The production's playwright, Douglas Carter Beane, adapted this production from the original fairytale. "Cinderella" garnered a total of nine Tony nominations for 2013.
