The Michigan State Spartans won a hard-earned victory after defeating the Stanford Cardinal from a 10-point deficit mark at Rose Bowl Wednesday afternoon, January 1, according to the Bleacher Report.

Connor Cook, the Spartan's quarterback and game MVP threw 332 yards plus two touchdowns to make his fourth-seed team beat the fifth-seeded Stanford. The Spartans had a late drive in the game to cap a 24-20 win in the 100^th Rose Bowl.

It was a tough climb for the Spartans especially when cook made a poor decision during the game. Under extreme pressure, Cook dumped the ball into the hands of Stanford's Kevin Anderson. The Cardinal's Anderson took advantage of the interception and ran 40 yards into the end zone to give Stanford 17-7 lead.

Although game analysts say that 2013 is Spartan's deep waters, Cook, a sophomore quarterback, refused to give up. He connected big on plays of 24, 11, and 37 yards on the next possession until finding Trevon Pendleton in the red zone. The Spartans marched 75 yards more and cut the Cardinals' lead to three just before halftime, the Bleacher Report said.

After the halftime, the Spartans played good control of the ball intelligently using the grid iron. They took the lead early in the fourth quarter with 24-17.

One thing that was noticeable in the Rose Bowl Wednesday was that the Spartans didn't look comfortable facing an equally physical Cardinal's team. It seems at first that the Spartans couldn't make a comeback.

However, the Cardinal lost steam during the game although the team was very dominant during the match's first quarter. After the first quarter, though, they've struggled to sustain their dominance. Analysts see the Cardinal's performance as a series of wasted opportunities, like in defense for example. It has also committed eight penalties during the game.

Game experts add that the Cardinal had all the chance to win the final minutes of the Super Bowl, but went four-and-out after the Spartans stuffed them on two runs, the report said.
