Youtube Everly brother "Til I Kissed You" tribute videos have been revisited by many fans after news about Phil Everly's death circulated the net. Don Everly, the older of the famous 50's duo, expressed his gratitude to fans who expressed their sympathy and condolences through the YouTube-uploaded videos of their past performances back in their heyday.
According to a Billboard article, Don Everly has released a statement on the passing of his younger brother, who died Friday of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
"I loved my brother very much. I always thought I'd be the one to go first," Don said adding, "I was listening to one of my favorite songs that Phil wrote and had an extreme emotional moment just before I got the news of his passing. I took that as a special spiritual message from Phil saying good-bye."
On Friday, Patti, Phil's wife told the Los Angeles Times that Phil developed the lung disease through a lifetime of smoking.
"Our love was and will always be deeper than any earthly differences we might have had. The world might be mourning an Everly Brother, but I'm mourning my brother Phil Everly."
"My wife Adela and I are touched by all the tributes we're seeing for Phil and we thank you for allowing us to grieve in private at this incredibly difficult time," Don added.
Meanwhile, Patti said that the entire family is "absolutely heartbroken" because of Phil's death.
The Everly Brothers charted 31 singles on the hot 100 in the history of Billboard. Don and Phil Everly produced 12 top 10 hits and the duo has been recognized as the 66th-biggest act in the history of the chart.
The Everly Brothers are tagged the Hot 100 chart's third biggest duo ever, following Daryl Hall & John Oats, and the Carpenters.
Fans who revisited and relived the music of the Everly Brothers by watching their YouTube uploaded "Til I Kissed You" audio and live performances couldn't help but get emotional while expressing their goodbyes to the 75-year-old Everly brother.
"It is indeed a sad day to learn of passing of Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers," John Hagel wrote.
"So sad to hear about Phil Everly...This is the very first song I heard by the Everly Bros...Remains one of my favorites...He was my favorite..." Kay White commented.
