Jennifer Hudson is making headlines again. From sporting a new hairdo to flaunting her curves, this 'American Idol' alum is surely making a buzz at whatever she does. And just before the year ended, Hudson played Santa Claus for her assistant by gifting him with a new house (woah!). And although she got like thousands of praises for it, many fans were quick to slam her when she posted a pic of her "too skinny" body.

Jennifer Hudson was definitely feeling the spirit of Christmas when she decided to buy her assistant, Walter Williams, a new house. Walter has been a dear friend to the singer-actress ever since they were in the 6th grade, so Hudson was more than happy to share her blessings to her assistant.

The "Black Nativity" star even took a video of her assistant's reaction and posted it on her Instagram account.

In the video, Williams could be seen going hysterical after reading a page of what seemed to be a deed. He screams enthusiastically and even runs towards Hudson to give her a hug.

The singer-actress even captioned the video upload with: "My assistant Walter's reaction when he found out I was buying him a house for Christmas!"

The hilarious yet heartwarming video clip got over 18,400 likes by Friday and Jennifer even received a lot of praises for her generous gesture.

However, Hudson also got a fair bout of slamming and backlashing after playing Santa Claus. Following her post that flaunted her quite skinny appearance, some fans reacted in a not-so-pleasing manner, even calling the actress "too skinny." Other even said that "she badly needs to eat from now on."

Well, although it's true that Jennifer has lost a tremendous amount of pounds in her photo, but her quite thin form is actually part of her preparation for her new movie "The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete," where she plays a heroin addict named Gloria.

"They did request that I lose about 10 pounds for [the movie.] I don't know that I did. [Laughs] But for 'Winnie,' I did. But for this one, it was just like, "Oh, if you could lose a little more weight." But I did learn eventually that with heroin addicts, in doing our research, that it's not necessarily like a physical thing where you're too thin or too heavy," she told Huffington Post about her new look for the movie. "[Director George Tillman Jr.] had this thing where Gloria was so into her drugs that she sacrificed the food, like, 'I don't want to eat, I just want to get high.'"
