A 3-year-old girl died following a botched dental surgery, according to an attorney of the little girl's family as reported by MSN News.

Hawaiian girl, Finley Boyle died late Friday after suffering from cardiac arrest and severe brain damage. Her parents filed a lawsuit against dentist Lily Geyer and Island Dentistry for Children in Honolulu, claiming that the child's early demise was due to inappropriate dosages of sedatives they gave to her. Moreover, the lawsuit also alleged that the hospital staff was not properly trained for emergency situations, which may have also been a factor in their daughter's death.

MSN News reported that Ashley Boyle took her 3-year-old daughter Finley to Island Dentistry on Dec. 3 for extensive dental work, which according to the family's statement in court was strongly recommended to them by Dr. Geyer.

Documents revealed that the dental work involved four root canals and multiple cavity fillings.

According to a statement from the 3-year-old's family attorney, L. Richard Fried Jr. the child was given "grossly excessive" amounts of sedatives, which lead to her cardiac arrest and later on caused her severe brain injuries.

Furthermore, the family also charged the staff for failure to check the young girl's vital signs for 26 minutes.

"It ended up being a massive overdose," Fried said.

A statement on the firm's website states Island Dentistry for Children has closed permanently, but no further explanation or details were provided.

As of late, both Dr. Greyer and the administration of Island Dentistry denied any comment on the issue.
