It's New York Knicks VS Miami Heat at 8 p.m. tonight (ET) and we'll see if the Knicks can pull it off against the Heat.
The ballers from NYC have shown signs that they can turn things around. With the New York Knicks as fresh as ever, tonight is their chance to see how far they will go against the two-time defending NBA Champions.
According to ESPN, New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony has saved some of his best performances for the defending champions. The report said that Anthony hopes that his best will continue in the New York Knicks VS Miami Heat matchup tonight.
In the New York Knicks versus Detroit Pistons game last Tuesday, January 7, Anthony scored three straight 3-pointers during a 15-0 third quarter run against the Pistons. The boys from the Big Apple moved forward and scored a victory in Detroit with a final score of 89-85 just in the knick of time.
Anthony's performance in the Detroit game earned him a season-high of six 3s with New York winning for the third time in four games. Anthony scored 34 points in the game against Detroit. We have to wait and see what happens tonight at the New York Knicks VS Miami Heat. It would definitely be a competition.
"He's capable of doing that," New York Knicks coac Mike Woodson told ESPN. "Some nights you have to expect that from Melo, but it can't always be Melo."
However, Anthony's teammates have been either injured or have been ill. Tyson Chandler and Kenyon Martin are still not sure if they can play because of an illness that has been going around the locker room. Metta World Peace and Pablo Prigioni are suffering from a knee and toe injury respectively. They are likely to remain on the sidelines.
But Raymond Felton played on last Tuesday's game after a six-game absence because of a groin injury. Some think that the New York Knicks VS Miami Heat game tonight will be Anthony and Felton against the Miami's fiery squad.
In the New York Knicks VS Miami Heat game tonight, the Knicks might not have much of a choice but to rely on Anthony as New York goes for its first three-game winning streak. According to Woodson, New York's streak is a critical stretch.
