A 32-year-old Utah mom shot her two daughters then herself on Tuesday shortly after her fiance came to retrieve his things from their shared Syracuse residence.
Kyler Ramsdell-Oliva gunned down her two children, 13-year-old Kenadee and 7-year-old Isabella, around 6 p.m. Tuesday before shooting herself.
According to a local media outlet, Oliva's fiance was outside the Utah residence with a U-Haul truck when she opened fire. Police officers had supervised the former couple as the unnamed man moved his things out of the home around 6 p.m. the previous day.
Officials have not yet determined the reason why Oliva would murder her two children
"It's considered a murder-suicide, so there are no suspects at large. We've spoken to the fiancé (and) we've spoken to the family. ... And that's when we came to the conclusion it was a murder-suicide," said Syracuse Police Officer Erin Behm in an interview.
Police first came to the Syracuse home Monday night. About 24 hours later, Oliva was found dead, along with her two young daughters.
Cops said the family had resided in the town for about three months and the two young girls had only just entered school. Kenadee, an eighth grade student at a nearby junior high, had only attended school for a day while first-grader Isabella got to attend a week of classes, confirmed authorities.
"When I was talking to you I thought it was going to be OK," a friend of Oliva's wrote in her Facebook page. "A piece of my heart has gone with you and the girls. I love you my dearest one."
A week before the incident, the mother-of-two shared that she was "feeling annoyed" on Facebook about apparent relationship problems.
"I hate people who feel it's their right to come in the middle of a relationship and try to fix it or give their opinion," Ramsdell-Oliva wrote in a post. "You aren't in that relationship for a reason so don't put yourself in between it. Focus on your own life and your own problems."
Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the crime and autopsies are pending.
