Lauren Tannehill, Ryan Tannehill's model wife, left a huge surprise in the back seat of an SUV for the next driver of the rented car earlier this month.
Lauren Tannehill reportedly left behind an AR-15 rifle worth US$2,000 in the back seat of the Nissan SUV she rented on Jan. 4.
There were no charges filed against the quarterback's wife as the weapon is owned legally by Ryan Tannehill. According to a Dolphins spokesperson, the couple called the incident a "personal matter" and declined to comment further.
The reports claimed that Lauren Tannehill rented a Nissan Rogue on Jan. 4, only to return the SUV just a few hours later and exchange it for another car. Three hours after Tannehill returned it, the Nissan car was then rented to Judith Fleissig from Rochester, N.Y.
Fleissig was in the area with her daughter who was looking for Miami hospitals where she could complete her pediatric residency.
Two days following the car pick-up, Fleissig's daughter discovered the gun. "Oh my God, it's a gun," her daughter reportedly told Fleissig. "I said, 'I think I'm going to throw up.'"
Fleissig added that she and her daughter exited the Nissan Rogue shortly before taking a photo of the rifle and reporting it to the nearest police station. The mother and daughter "were kind of freaked out," Fleissig explained.
The football player and wife Lauren reportedly called E-Z Rent-A-Car to report a missing item from the Nissa Rogue they rented just hours before, but the Tannehills did not disclose what the lost item was.
"Though dangerous if it would have landed in the wrong hands, it's not criminal," Keyla Concepcion, spokesperson for Broward Sheriff's Office explained in an interview.
