Marvel introduced a cyborg assassin as the latest addition to its crime-fighting squad featured in hit action series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," reported E! Online.
According to the report, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." character Mike Peterson, played by J. August Richards, will suit up and transform into the Marvel Comics character Deathlok for its Feb. 4 episode.
Richards first appeared as Peterson in the first episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and the show's viewers suspected he would later debut as Luke Cage.
However, the comic book company confirmed that the character of Luke Cage will star in his own Netflix series premiering in 2015.
We have been waiting all season for this moment where we can reveal that Mike Peterson's story arc is an origin story," said said executive producer Jeffrey Bell in an official statement. "We're thrilled to have J. August Richards playing Deathlok and to have our audience enjoy this favorite Marvel character on the show."
Cyborg assassin Deathlok's character has gone through numerous incarnations. He made hiscomic book debut in 1974 and was brought to life by creators Rich Buckler and Dough Moench.
"If you would have asked when I was nine-years old what I wanted to be, I would have said asuper hero and I'm so excited to be one now as an adult on TV!" Richards said in an interview. "It's a dream come true."
Deathlok won't be the last Marvel character joining S.H.I.E.L.D. Marvel hinted that Jaimie Alexander will be asked to reprise her role as Lady Sif from hit blockbuster "Thor" in one of the show's future episodes. She will be joined by Bill Baxton who will reportedly take on the role of Marvel character Agent John Garrett who first made his onscreen debut in "Elektra: Assassin."
As he prone to do, Marvel creator Stan Lee will be making a cameo appearance in an upcoming episode.
