NBA Trade Rumors: Houston Rockets To Trade Jeremy Lin To Toronto Raptors For Kyle Lowry Before Deadline?

Trade talks are expected to intensify in the coming weeks and Kyle Lowry is expected to be one of the most talked about players heading into the annual NBA trade deadline.
Previous reports suggested that the Toronto Raptors could trade Lowry to the New York Knicks or the Indiana Pacers, but an ESPN Insider said that the Rockets could be the most likely landing spot of the veteran playmaker.

According to the report, Lowry could find himself playing in Houston again as the Rockets are reportedly planning to offer Jeremy Lin, Ronnie Brewer, and future picks to the Raptors for Lowry.
Lowry, who spent three and a half seasons with the Rockets before moving to the Raptors before the 2012-13 NBA season, will definitely be an upgrade in the point guard rotation of the Rockets.
NBA analysts believe that acquiring a better point guard could be the final step the Rockets need to make in order to become a serious title contender this season. Previous rumors also indicated their interest to pair up superstars Dwight Howard and James Harden with Boston Celtics star point guard Rajon Rondo.
On the other hand, the Raptors will get a quality point guard along with draft picks that could turn into gems in the future. However, Lin's contract could be a stumbling block in a potential move to Toronto, but they could also reconsider instead of losing Lowry for nothing in the offseason.
The Raptors are facing a dilemma heading into the trade deadline. They have good chance of ending their long playoff drought and could make a playoff push with Lowry leading the way for them.
However, keeping Lowry for the remainder of the season could backfire after the season since the 27-year-old point guard, who is averaging 16.8 points to go along with 7.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds this season, will be a free agent next summer.
"Although the Raptors are deep in the playoff chase, they face a very real dilemma with Lowry's contract status. Because he is an unrestricted free agent, they stand a chance of losing him without compensation, and thus the assumption Toronto will look to move him but also get a good haul in return," the ESPN Insider noted.
