Catherine Zeta-Jones is dead at 44. At least that's what several circulating reports claim, which technically alarmed several fans. However, it was found out later on that the said reports were absolutely fake and were simply part of the celebrity death hoax trend victimizing a lot of Hollywood stars and celebrities since 2012.

According to a report published on Global Associated News, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones died while she was filming her upcoming film in Kitzbühel, Austria.

The fake news report was made believable through several statements that somehow supported the alleged tragic death of the A-list actress. It even claimed that Austrian police confirmed the alleged death of Catherine Zeta-Jones in preliminary reports, which stated that Michael Douglas' wife accidentally fell more than 100 feet to her death in the Hahnenkamm mountains.

Despite the lack of specific details on how the accident happened, the death hoax sounded genuine since it included a "specific details are not yet available" claim at the end of the article.

Meanwhile, another site called Media Mass also reported Catherine Zeta-Jones' death hoax. The report on the said site claims that 'The Mask of Zorro' lead actress is the newest victim of the viral celebrity death hoaxes.

Media Mass even stated that an "R.I.P. Catherine Zeta-Jones" Facebook page was made by some of her fans to echo their sympathy and condolences to Zeta-Jones family, especially to Michael Douglas, her husband.

"At about 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday (February 04, 2014), our beloved actress Catherine Zeta-Jones passed away. Catherine Zeta-Jones was born on September 25, 1969 in Swansea. She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page," the description of the Facebook page reads.

Because of this, a lot of fans began to like and comment on the said page to extend their love to the actor. Some of them quickly believed the death hoax that troubled the 44-year-old, and they quickly shared it on social media especially on Twitter.

Fortunately, it was found out later on that both sites are actually notorious for spreading false rumors and reports and a long list of celebrity death hoaxes. It is not even clear of Media Mass' claim about a Facebook page because many fans claim that it didn't exist at all.

Michael Douglas wife is perfectly according to ABC News. The couple and their kids were even spotted recently enjoying their time at the Super Bowl.

Catherine Zeta-Jones also made headlines the entire 2013 because of the shocking discovery about her mental health. That is she is diagnosed of having Bipolar II.

Zeta-Jones joins a long list of celebs and stars who became victims of the circulating hoaxes on the Internet. Some of the previous victims include Woody Harrelson, Jackie Chan, Will Smith, Lady Gaga. Justin Bieber, and many more.
