Romeoville shooting left a mother and her teenage daughter wounded when a gunman reportedly shot them early morning while they were getting ready to go to school, CBS 12 reported Thursday.
According to the report, authorities already revealed that the gunman of the Romeoville shooting was indeed targeting the victims, a 33-year-old mother and her 15-year-old daughter, who were apparently preparing to go to school.
Romeoville Police Chief Mark Turvey said the motive behind the shooting isn't clear yet, but police are now questioning four "people of interest.
Police said the Romeoville shooting happened around 7 a.m. while the mother and her daughter were getting into an SUV in their driveway in the 300 block of Emery Avenue.
"A male subject approached the car and shot the daughter, and then shot the mother," Turvey said adding that the people who are now being questioned age from their late teens to their early 20s.
"We don't know that any of these four are the offender, but we're confident that the offender ... either he's no longer a threat, or he's no longer in the area," Turvey said.
The teenager was airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood while her mother was rushed to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, authorities said.
Because of the Romeoville shooting, Romeoville schools were placed on a "soft lockdown" while investigation is still on-going, Inquisitr reported.
Local reports revealed that nearby schools initially told parents to send their kids to school, but they were later on asked to keep them in their homes until the lockdown is lifted.
A WGN TV update on the Romeoville shooting said that the lockdown was lifted at 9:30 amid the continued investigation.
The names of the victims and the "people of interest" have not been released as of late.
