Sam Champion leaving "GMA" broke out late last year, after the former presenter announced he will be the host and managing editor at the Weather Channel. The channel is partly owned by NBC Universal.
However, despite what tabloids might have you believe, Sam Champion leaving GMA did not at all affect the relationship between the co-hosts of the ABC show and the NBC show, according to a report by Huffington Post.
Despite the fact that Sam Champion leaving GMA had taken a lot of bravery and guts on his part, many viewed it as a "betrayal" to the network that launched his career.
The TV host recently shared a few juicy insider secrets on the real deal behind the ABC and NBC hosts in an interview posted in HuffPost Live, addressing even the rea deal between two of America's most watched networks.
Champion compared "Good Morning America" and "Today" show's relationship to that of McDonald's and Burger King.
"The rivalry is very much a business rivalry," the said. "It's a little like, if you're serving up the fries at the McDonalds, you really aren't angry at the Burger King people."
Champion added that despite being slightly competitive when it comes to getting their stories, the anchors themselves keep their personal affairs separate of the job. There isn't any hatred or rivalry, especially not between the anchors themselves.
"The people who do TV tend to be friendly with one another," Champion explained. "We know each other, and we sometimes socialize together."
Champion followed up his statement, revealing that he and Al Roker, a "Today" show weatherman are actually in very good terms. According to Champion, he and his anchor may have "gone out and gotten loaded" every now and then while Champion still worked for ABC News.
