George Donaldson's death shocked not only the music scene but the rest of the world as well after the beloved Scottish singer passed away of a heart attack on Wednesday.

According to the Inquistr, George Donaldson's death was confirmed by relatives who said the singer died at his home in Glasgow, Scotland after suffering a massive heart attack.

George Donaldson's death has triggered massive support and well wishes from not only colleagues in the business but also from Celtic Thunder fans around the globe.

Donaldson, a talented, self-taught musician, became the face of popular group Celtic Thunder in 2007 after auditioning for producer Sharon Browne.

In light of George Donaldson's death, he was best remembered as a talented guitar and flute player whose passion for Celtic music was a gift from his late father Bernard. He once said that one of the proudest moments of his career as a singer was when he was given the opportunity to perform for his father at the Celtics opening match of the 2000 season at Celtic Park in Glasgow.

“George has a great love and fondness for meeting ‘real people’ from all over the world, finding out about their stories and their lives. He believes there is a ‘song’ in everyone. On his many musical journeys through Europe he discovered a great fondness for Germany, the culture and it’s people. Spending numerous nights in post-show discussions with the locals, he has become an eternal ‘struggling’ student with the language. It was through these late night sessions that the seeds of ‘the White Rose’ were sown.”

George Donaldson's death came just at the peak of Celtic Thunder's fame and popularity, with the band now performing sell-out concert throughout Europe and North America. Among the events they covered were St. Patrick's Day parades in Boston, Chicago and New York Cty.

Celtic Thunder also graced the St. Patrick's Day celebration at the White House and performed for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

So it comes to no surprise that George Donaldson's death sparked a massive outpouring of support and condolences directed to the singer's family, which includes his wife Carolyn and 13-year-old daughter Sarah.
