Luis Collazo will look to move one step closer to another title shot when he faces Amir Khan on the main undercard of the Floyd Mayweather-Marcos Maidana fight card on May 3 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Collazo, who is coming off a knockout win over Victor Ortiz in their WBA welterweight title showdown in January, likes his chances against Khan, who was once considered as one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world.

In an interview with Fighthype, Collazo said that he is very motivated to win against Khan, saying that he is looking for redemption after going through tough times earlier in his career.

"This is redemption for me basically because I've been going through so many hard times in boxing," Collazo said. "This is just another way to show people that if you believe in God, anything is possible. And look, I'm just another living example of it. Professionally, this is another point in my career that is giving me more of a future."

Collazo had his chances to win in big fights before, but luck did not go his way.

The 32-year-old lost his WBA welterweight title to Ricky Hatton in 2006 via a questionable unanimous decision loss.

Collazo had his chance to become a world champion again, but he lost to Shane Mosley in 2007 and to Andre Berto in their WBC welterweight title fight in January 2009.

Collazo has been on career resurgence recently, winning in his last four fights. The Brooklyn, New York native knows that he will be an underdog heading into fight night, but he admitted that he is surprised with the support that he is getting - even from British boxing fans.

"A lot of British people have been hitting me up on Twitter and they just don't like his mouth," Collazo said. "He runs his mouth too much and he thinks that he is better than what he is. As with everything, I believe you have to be humble and especially in boxing. I know you want to start hype and this, this, and that, but stay humble."
