Congressman Mike Rogers of Michigan is retiring as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, revealing that he is to host a national radio show syndicated by Cumulus Media when his term finally ends, Washington Post reported Friday.

In an interview with Michigan radio stations Friday morning, Congressman Mike Rogers of Michigan boldly announced that he has made up his mind in retiring from Congress after his current term is up. He is hosting a national radio show instead.

"I have always believed in our founders' idea of a citizen legislature," the 50-year-old congressman said in a statement.  "I had a career before politics and always planned to have one after. The genius of our institutions is they are not dependent on the individual temporary occupants privileged to serve."

The national radio show Congressman Mike Rogers will be hosting is syndicated by Cumulus Media.

"We are thrilled to have Chairman Rogers join our team. He has been instrumental helping to shape many of the most important issues and events of our time and will play a significant role in our expanding content platform," said Lew Dickey, CEO of Cumulus.

Cumulus Media owns 460 radio stations nationwide and syndicates its programming to thousands more, reported Washington Post.

The radio network has syndicated numerous programs from some of the medium's biggest draws i.e. Don Imus, Michael Savage, Mark Levin, Carson Daly, and Mike Huckabee.

Congressman Mike Rogers of Michigan has served in Congress from 2001. He is a former FBI agent.

Recently, Rogers has been a regular guest on Sunday morning political talk shows and he even topped the list of lawmakers appearing frequently on the said programs.

Mike Rogers has served as a critic of President Obama and he has also worked as a defender of the National Security Agency.

With all of his credentials, it is not surprising why Cumulus Media is enlisting Congressman Mike Rogers in one of its upcoming radio shows.
