Youtube is on the top of the list when it comes to mobile entertainment apps usage, amounting to 50% of all the other apps available for smartphones and tablets. A current study from Flurry, a mobile app analytics that is offered for free, backed up the statistics.

Youtube the no.1 online video streaming company in the world is also currently on the top when it comes to mobile entertainment app consumption. Google acquired Youtube in 2006, just after a year of being launched by co-founders Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim. "Me at the zoo" featuring Jawed Karim was the first ever video uploaded at the popular video sharing site. Youtube is considered the best purchase Google ever made.

Flurry, the firm responsible for the study about the mobile entertainment app numbers, examines how users connect and collaborate with mobile applications. Flurry Analytic is also free and can be downloaded for iOS, Android, Windows mobile smartphones and tablets. It is currently used by thousands of businesses, to measure market reach, user retention, transitions, revenue and other useful data.

Instagram which is currently owned by Facebook commands a large percentage of consumption from social media and messaging apps for mobile devices. Social applications account to 28% of the time users spend on their tablets and smartphones, as gaming applications are recorded to be the highest percentage of usage, from all apps.

Flurry Analytic also informed that the released reports are based on current findings, and that it may change significantly as the market develops and evolves. They also stated that there is a steady increase in mobile device usage, as people are spending more time on their smartphones and tablets.

Youtube dominates half of the time people use apps on their devices, while the typical user spends around two hours and forty two minutes a day on their smartphones and tablets.
