The New York Yankees are having a good start in the 2014 MLB season, but there are still questions about whether or not the move they made in the offseason are enough for them to win the World Series this year.

The Yankees went on a spending spree in the offseason, committing nearly $500 million in salary to acquire big-name free agents like Brian McCann, Jacoby Ellsbury, Carlos Beltran, and Japanese pitching sensation Masahiro Tanaka.

Sports World Report recently reported that the Yankees could send trade feelers to the San Diego Padres for Chase Headley after the first baseman Mark Texeira went down with hamstring injury.

Texeira, who went 3-for-12 with two RBIs in his first two games, is not expected to stay long on the DL list, but there are growing concerns on whether or not the 33-year-old veteran can stay healthy this season.

The former Georgia Tech standout, who has a .278 career batting average, missed a huge part of the Yankees' campaign last season due to wrist injury.

The concerns about Teixeira's health could convince the Yankees to trade for Headley, who is considered as a one of the best third baseman in the league.

"The NY Yankees could look into a trade for Chase Headley with the San Diego Padres after first baseman Mark Teixeira went down with a hamstring injury, as third baseman Kelly Johnson will now take over 1B for New York and that could open things up for Joe Girardi as the star hits the DL for the second season in a row," SWR reported.

Headley had a spectacular season in 2012, averaging .286 with 31 homers and 115 RBIs. The 29-year-old veteran had a down year last season, though, as he was slowed down by a torn meniscus.

Headley is expected to work hard to regain his old form this season, considering the fact that he is set to become a free agent after the season.

The Padres will look to keep Headley, but reports also indicated that they might consider trading the nine-year veteran if given an attractive trade package.
