Arrow season 3 marks another milestone for the hit CW series that is getting much attention and more followers each passing episode and season. Season 2 may have ended with bag of twists, but the upcoming Arrow season is to open with a bang for show fans, who not only like where the storyline is directing all of our characters but also anticipate the new villains that are coming their way.
In a recent interview with TV Line, cast members were invited to talk about some of the things that fans should watch out for in Arrow season 3. Of course, Stephen Amell, who plays the titular role was there, and although he was generous enough to show up and talk about the upcoming season, he didn't give the slightest hint on whoever is going to be the next supervillain. Nevertheless, Amell said that fans should anticipate the new villain to be very different from Slade, who was "omnipresent" in the second season. "I don't think that will necessarily be the case in Season 3. It's going to be a little bit different than in Season 2," he added.
Apart from Amell, John Barrowman, who got promoted into series regular for season 3 was also there to talk about some major twists on the storyline of the returning series. Barrowman said that Malcolm Merlyn might be up to something especially now that he's got Thea under his spell. "He's got to train her to be a powerhouse, to be a tough bitch," Barrowman said. "She's tough now, but she's got to be tougher."
Now, in case you missed the season finale of Arrow season 2, Sara Lance aka The Black Canary has decided to rejoin Ra's Al Ghul's League of Assassins, leaving her Canary mask to her sister Laurel Lance. This obviously hints that Laurel will be taking over. "I do think the torch has been passed. I get that feeling, and I think everybody else gets that feeling," Katie Cassidy, who plays Laurel, said.
In a different interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cassidy also opened up the things that's in store for her character. "Obviously, getting involved in Team Arrow and taking her through this alter ego, if she does. I mean the jacket fits, but I'm not the writers. But I think I'm excited for her to fight, kick some ass," the actress said.
"It would be devastating, because they're very close, he's the closest thing to her. I definitely think it would be a difficult thing for her, but come on, Laurel's gone through so much. If anybody could deal with it, it'd be her," she added. "I think that she really embraced the fact that he's the Arrow, and it made her love him so much more and it made sense going with the comics that she becomes this Canary, because Canary and Arrow are together. We'll see though. You never know what the writers are going to write."
Meanwhile, former 'Teen Wolf' star Colton Haynes also dished some interesting details on the upcoming Arrow season 3, focusing of course on his character Roy Harper aka The Red Arrow. "Roy's like an emotional wreck. I think that in the future, Roy is just going to go down, now he's a hero so it's almost a heroic path, but I think he's going to go down a path of lies," Haynes said.
"It's looking a little like that's going to happen, but in true Arrow fashion, you have no idea. You can go from killing someone to crying and being very warm-hearted....Here's the thing: I beat up like three girls this season and no one said anything about it. Everyone's like, 'You're awesome, you're a badass.' Not one comment has been, 'You do not hit women.' I think I'd let her win," he added.
Looks like Arrow season 3 will be jam-packed with interesting plot twists and turns. What do you think about the upcoming season? Sound off in the comments section below.
