Two gunmen, one male and the other female, opened fire on diners at a pizza cafe and a Walmart shop on Sunday wounding 2 and killing 3. Among the dead include 1 bystander and 2 police officers eating lunch at the scene of the crime, Cici Pizza. According to eyewitnesses, the still assailants, known only by their first names as Jaden and Amanda, entered the diner at 11:30 AM, GMT, Sunday and shot two officers who were eating their lunch.
The attackers later entered a Walmart and shot another mall-goer before engaging in a shootout with police and finally, turning the gun on themselves. While no solid motives have been established behind Sunday’s Las Vegas shootings, eyewitness report that both shooting suspects mentioned they were “taking part in a revolution.”
According to Sheriff Doug Gillespie of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, the slain officers were Alyn Beck, aged 42, and Igor Soldo, 32. Soldo was the first slain victim in the attack, followed by Beck, who managed to return fire while inside the pizzeria. A bystander in a Walmart shop has also been shot but is still unidentified.
Before opening fire at the police officers, the attackers allegedly announced, “this is a revolution!”. The shooters were draped in militia-style clothing or camouflage and carried large duffel bags, the contents of which are still under investigation.
A brief exchange of gunfire occurred when the shooters reached Walmart where the shooters managed to shoot a female bystander. The ordeal ended when the female shooter shot her companion and finally turned the gun on herself.
Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval has extended his heartfelt condolences to the police department and the loved ones of those slain. He also said he was devastated by the incident.
Police spokesman Larry Hadfield further reports, "we don't know anything about the suspects yet and are trying to learn more."
