'The Good Wife' has definitely transformed into a dynamic series that mirrors reality, and with its forthcoming Season 6, show fans will surely agree that it's time for its protagonist, Alicia Florrick, to move on and be romantically happy. The show's co-creator Robert King has recently dropped a few hints on what fans can expect when 'The Good Wife' Season 6 airs this fall.
Julianna Margulies' Alicia Florrick is obviously not your typical lawyer, wife, and mother, and 'The Good Wife' Season 6 will prove this premise even more. Since her unorthodox marriage to Chris North's Peter, things have gone for the worse when it comes to Alicia's romantic life. After all, having a husband who got jailed over a humiliating sex and corruption scandal, will surely break a woman's heart, leaving it wounded and afraid to love again. Nonetheless, the upcoming sixth season can change this set-up between Alicia and Peter, and King says their marriage will take on an even bigger role this time.
"It all comes down to [actor] availability, but yes," King told TVLine adding that 'The Good Wife' Season 6 will explore the relationship of the power couple and tackle all the private arrangements between them. "How does that work? Can it work? Is it truly possible that you can have an agreement with your spouse that the sexual relationship is over and the love has to be put on hold, even though we're going to use each other for what power we can give each other. Chris [North] and Jules [Margulies] seem very willing to take us there, so we're up for it."
Apart from Alicia and Peter's relationship, King also dished that the all-new season will present a much "bigger battlefield" for all of the characters and a "new chapter" for Alicia. Matthew Goode's Finn Polmar is also going to take on a vital role this season, especially after the political crossfire in the previous one. It can be noted that Goode has been promoted to a series regular after Season 5. Another interesting twist is Diane's move to approach Florrick-Agos for help instead of the other way around.
Meanwhile, who could forget that one of the lead stars of the show from the very beginning got killed off in the previous season? Actor Josh Charles, who portrayed Will Gardner, has recently admitted that his character's death on the show has added to its realistic fee and approach in mirroring life. "I think that's part of the intent," Charles said. "You kind of see the ice thaw a little bit and so maybe you get a hint that things could one day improve. And then they don't. The rug gets pulled out from under you. That happens in life, I think. I don't know. I was always drawn - maybe it's the dark part of my personality - to the tragic element of their relationship. Because we've seen the other stuff done a lot. And I think the idea of two people who really do feel a connection, but for all these different reasons [their timing] is off - I always responded to that element."
'The Good Wife' Season 6 is set to air this fall on CBS.
