American Horror Story Season 3: Coven may have been a little less grim and dark compared to its predecessors, but its successor, American Horror Story Season 4: Freak Show is going to change fans' viewing habits with its spook-tacular and nothing short of creepy antics this fall season. Actress Sarah Paulson recently dropped a photo of her freaky character on Twitter while young Hollywood celeb Taissa Farmiga has already revealed why she's not returning for the forthcoming season.
The cast of American Horror Story Season 4: Freak Show is totally into their characters for the fourth installment of the hit FX series. After the spellbinding success of the show, season after season - with American Horror Story Season 3: Coven being the most watched thus far - it is not surprising that the series is back with another challenging storyline for its chameleon and highly versatile stars.
AHS Season 4: Freak Show is set in Jupiter, Florida in 1950, E! Online has learned. Critically-acclaimed actress Jessica Lange is playing a German ex-pat who is managing one of the last freak shows in the United States. For Lange's fans, this will be the last time they will get to see the actress play another AHS lead as she has officially confirmed even before American Horror Story Season 3: Coven started airing that she is leaving the show for good.
Jessica Lange is joined by other AHS regular and guest stars this season including Kathy Bates, Frances Conroy and Angela Bassett. An all-star cast is already in the process of morphing into their freaky characters for the upcoming season.
Paulson, who has been with the FX series since its first season, recently opened up about the first moment she laid her eyes on the show's script and talked about the difficulty in portraying her character. "I feel like that's the appropriate reaction you want when you read the first script of American Horror Story," the Emmy nominated actress told E! Online. "So it's very exciting and totally nerve-wracking in the best way because you think, 'How the hell am I going to pull this off?!' And as an actor, I think that's an exciting thing to feel."
Interestingly, the actress also dished that if fans enjoyed all of the previous season especially Coven and Asylum, then they will love the new season twice as much since it's a hybrid of the two aforesaid seasons.
"There's going to be a little bit of a richer and potentially darker tone the way Asylum had, but with the humor infused from Coven," she gushed. "When you add Kathy Bates to the story, she's so funny, and Emma Roberts was so funny last year as Madison, I just think it's going to be a really beautiful mix of both."
The 38-year-old actress also expressed how thrilled she is in doing the new season since AHS creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy has put created a marvelous and intricate storyline for the brand-new storyline. "His interests tend to go towards the female and the intricacies of the female heart and mind and I love him so much for that because, boy, he has thrown the ball at me in a really beautiful way," she said. "I worship at the altar of Ryan Murphy and I always will."
Asked about her commitment to whatever role she's offered on the show, Paulson said, "I've had live snakes on my body. I've had to feign masturbation on television, which my father would have to watch. I had to simulate abortion, I had to breastfeed one of my best friends who is a 35-year-old man." Then, she added, "I mean you name it and I've had to do it on American Horror Story. There's nothing I won't do at this point-and that's what's terrifying."
In a recent Twitter post, Paulson excitedly shared a snap of her character on the set of American Horror Story Season 4: Freak Show. The photo (shown above) was captioned: "So excited to be playing Bette AND Dot this season. Two heads are better than one! #AHSFREAKSHOW pic.twitter.com/jdZJSPercn"
Meanwhile, in a rather unfortunate spoiler for the upcoming season, AHS regular actress Taissa Farmiga is not joining the upcoming season because of her packed schedule this season.
Farmiga, who is busy filming her upcoming film 'Anna' and working on her other projects, is reportedly having a hard time to squeeze in AHS on her schedule, and since this may interfere with the production of American Horror Story Season 4: Freak Show - which is due this fall - the actress has reportedly decided not to return for the brand-new season.
Additionally, another lead star, Lily Rabe, is reportedly exiting the show as well, after being cast for ABC's new alien drama 'The Whisperers.' However, the actress or her rep is yet to address this circulating speculation.
