Kevin Costner's 'Field of Dreams' is already 25 years old, and to celebrate that milestone as well as an early treat for Father's Day, the 59-year-old actor played catch with his sons in the same field where his 1989 film was shot.
Kevin Costner is not one who would go all out in celebrating Father's Day, but it seemed this is very unlikely given his celebrity status. The "Field of Dreams" star recently revisited the place in Iowa where his hit film was shot, and he even reportedly played catch with his two young boys, according to Yahoo! News.
Although Costner didn't intend to make a huge commotion out of his subtle gesture to enjoy some free time with his boys: 7-year-old Cayden and 5-year-old Hayes, the attention he got from onlookers was inevitable.
For one thing, he didn't just show up in the location to play with his sons, but he also revisited the location where his Academy Award-nominated film "Field of Dreams" was mostly shot, TIME noted.
"We don't usually have this many people when we do this," Costner told The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier of the attention he and his sons got when they played catch in the field near Dyersville in northeast Iowa.
Kevin Costner's "Field of Dreams" chronicles the life of an Iowa farmer who carved a baseball field out of his corn crop.
"I'm going to sit in a little cornfield in Iowa, these lights are going to go out, and we're going to watch a movie," the actor told the Iowa City Press-Citizen. "And I don't think there's anything more American, I don't think there's any bigger miracle for me that occurred than this movie that was made 25 years ago here in this field."
Costner and other "Field of Dreams" actors have traveled to the location of the film in celebration of their 1989 movie's 25th year anniversary. About 12,000 fans are expected to join the actors on the said farm from Friday through Saturday for a smorgasbord of events.
