The Chicago Bulls will look to make a massive revamp this summer as reports indicated that the their front office is determined to take all necessary measures to improve the team next season.
According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, Bulls general manager Gar Forman and head of basketball operations John Paxson are open to trading any player not named Derrick Rose.
"According to several NBA sources Sunday, the Bulls have been actively looking to improve the starting lineup at almost any cost, with Derrick Rose the only untouchable player - and not by choice," Cowley wrote.
This means that Bulls are open to trading key players like All-Star center Joakim Noah along with emerging forward Taj Gibson and incoming third-year guard Jimmy Butler.
Sources indicated that the Bulls are willing to give up assets in order to acquire one of their three targets this offseason - New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony, Minnesota Timberwolves' Kevin Love, and Miami Heat's LeBron James if the four-time MVP decides to test free agency this summer.
Cowley noted that the Bulls still have Anthony on top of their list, but they are also making a strong push to acquire Love, who could be traded this offseason after expressing no interest in signing a long-term deal with the Timberwolves. Things could also change if James eventually decides to leave the Heat.
"Carmelo Anthony is still Plan A as the Bulls and the rest of the NBA await to see if the Knicks forward will opt out of his contract. But the Bulls are more active in their pursuit of Kevin Love than initially rumored. Also, don't rule out LeBron James coming into play again if the four-time MVP opts out of his deal," Cowley wrote.
Trading Noah won't help the Bulls, though, in their pursuit of Anthony. Previous reports indicated that All-Star center tried to recruit Anthony during the All-Star break, but Noah is reportedly convincing the Bulls to hold onto Gibson.
The Bulls made it no secret that they view Gibson as part of their long-term future, but Cowley revealed that Chicago will consider moving the 28-year-old forward, who averaged 13.0 points to go with 6.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks this season.
