Soulja Boy is dead at 23. At least that's what a couple of sites are claiming recently after the hashtag #RIPSouljaBoy went trending worldwide. Nevertheless, it was found out later on that there is no truth in the said reports, noting that even the young rapper himself was constantly updating his Twitter account himself.
In the most recent wave of celebrity death hoaxes, rapper Soulja Boy alleged death has made rounds on the Internet, spreading the false report that the young rapper has now perished.
The said hoax reportedly started on Twitter when the #RIPSouljaBoy hashtag trended worldwide, as opposed to the usual death hoaxes that are generated by fake news websites. Thousands of fans who stumbled upon the Twitter trending topic were stunned and immediately voiced out there sympathy and express their condolences to the friends and families of Soulja Boy.
"Is Soulja Boy dead or the internet killed him? #RIPSouljaBoy," a Twitter user that goes by the username "Yo Bruth, It's Knux!" wrote.
"#RIPsouljaboy is trending. Great. Twitter is killing celebrities again," a Brittany Howard commented.
"Why does #RIPsouljaboy trend every year? What does this even mean? Who started this? I have so many questions. Lol," another tweeted.
However, while the hashtag continued to trend online, it was also evident that Soulja Boy himself was busy updating his own Twitter account.
"Just left my photoshoot headed to a meeting for 3 deals on new companies," the young rapper recently tweeted.
"Work harder today then you did yesterday," he tweeted earlier.
Soulja Boy is no stranger to death hoaxes. In fact his false death reports also became viral back in February 2012 when the same hashtag also trended for no reason.
However, the very much alive young rapper recently worked with Drake and Nicki Minaj on "We Made It" and "Yasss Bish!" respectively, according to International Business Times.
"That track was actually an intro. Drake heard it and wanted do something with it, and we made it happen. We Made It" led to several freestyles from other rappers, most notably from Jay-Z and Jay Electronica. Even though Drake and Jay were going through their beef, it still showed I had the ability to make hits," Soulja Boy himself told the Grio's Kyle Harvey.
"I'm comfortable enough to say 'Yass,'" Boy added of his "Yasss Bish!" collab with Minaj. "I didn't even know it was a gay term. I'm around girls all the time, and they just kept saying 'Yass.' I'm not homophobic, so it wasn't a problem for me either way."
