Toni Kroos has completed his move from Bayern Munich to Real Madrid on Thursday after the two top-tier European clubs agreed to a £24million move, multiple reports confirmed.
Kroos, who has been on Real Madrid's radar over the past several months, reportedly signed a six-year deal with the Spanish giant club, ending his stint with Bayern that started in 2006 when made a move from Hansa Rostock.
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed the move in statement where he thanked the 24-year-old midfielder, who had two goals and three assists for Germany in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
"We would like to thank Toni Kroos for his time here in Munich," Rummenigge said via Daily Mail. "We enjoyed great success here together. We would like to wish him and his family all the best in Madrid and with Real."
Bayern Munich expressed interest in locking up Kroos to a new deal after his current contract expires in 2015, but the Germany international declined as he was keen on making a move elsewhere.
Kroos, who won three Bundesliga titles with Bayern, also confirmed the transfer, saying that moving to Real Madrid is the right decision to make, while also adding that he is not feeling any pressure despite high expectations from the club.
"I know that at this club you are expected to win trophies but I'm the right man for that because I'm used to winning," Kroos said. "I know this is the correct decision and I'm very proud to have made it."
The World Cup 2014 winner is hoping that he will continue enjoying successful seasons with his new club, who will be defending the Champions League title next season.
"I cannot think of anything more wonderful than being here. This is the biggest club in the world," Kroos said. "In 2013 I won the Champions League and in 2014 Real won it, and I hope we can win it again next year. I hope to be able to return the confidence this club has shown in me."
