Floyd Mayweather vs Marcos Maidana Rematch Update: ‘El Chino’ Says Unbeaten Champion is Not That Great

Marcos 'El Chino' Maidana will look to avenge his loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. when they collide in a rematch on September 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Maidana, who gave Mayweather a tough night during their first fight in May 3, expressed confidence that he can beat the reigning pound-for-pound king in the second showdown.

The 31-year-old Argentine said that he will be more confident heading into their September 13 fight, saying that he is now convinced that the unbeaten welterweight and light middleweight champion is not that great.

"In my first fight against Floyd, I learned that he's not that great, he's not that superhuman boxer everybody talks about. If I wouldn't have been so anxious looking for the knockout, I would have beat him," Maidana said via BoxingScene.

The former WBA world welterweight champion is reportedly convinced that Mayweather will run a lot in their next fight after experiencing a tough night against him.

"I think Floyd is going to run around inside the ring. In our first fight, he said he was going to stand up and fight and he didn't. So, it wouldn't surprise me if this time around he does the same thing," Maidana said.

The Buenos Aires, Argentina native then shrugged off Mayweather's accusation against him, insisting that he is not a dirty fight. He took a swipe at Mayweather, insisting that the 37-year-old Grand Rapids native is actually the dirty fighter because of the way he is using his elbow to gain advantage against his opponents.

"In all of his fights, he brings his elbows out. He really likes to use his elbows," Maidana stressed. "One of his moves is to put his elbow in the fighter's throat and the referee for some reason let him get away with it. We all know he does whatever he wants because he has the judges in his pocket. He is a dirty fighter."
