An Air Algerie plane has gone missing in the wake of the still missing and yet to be found Malaysia Airlines flight MH 370. If not found within this week, the said flight is projected to be the next most frightening aerial mystery the world is yet to decipher.
According to several authorities, the Air Algerie plane was headed to Algiers from Burkina Faso when it suddenly disappeared from the radar, leading many people to panic at the sight of another missing craft.
The Air Algeria missing flight is said to have 116 passengers and crew on board. While the flying vessel is technically being operated by Air Algerie, it actually belongs to private Spanish company, Swiftair.
An operator for the airline has revealed that the missing Air Algerie Flight 5017 lost contact with radar about 50 minutes after its takeoff from Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The flight from Burkina Faso to Algiers usually takes about four hours. The Air Algerie plane flies the said route four times a week. However, this time the Air Algeria Flight 5017 has already exceeded the mark and has not been spotted since its disappearance on the radar.
It has been revealed that the new missing plane has 50 French passengers on board.
An unidentified source told French news agency AFP that the missing plane was "not far from the Algerian frontier when the crew was asked to make a detour because of poor visibility and to prevent the risk of collision with another aircraft on the Algiers-Bamako route."
Updates on the second missing plane - Air Algerie Flight 5017 - will be revealed to the public soon. Authorities are asking the families and friends of the passengers and crew to wait for further notice.
