"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" cast members are making headlines this week shortly after Lionsgate dropped the official release date of the big movie reboot fans of the hit '90s show, Enstarz has learned.
Among the confirmed "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" cast is rising star Chloe Moretz, who recently starred in successful films "Carrie" and "Kick-Ass 2." Moretz was reportedly tapped to play "Pink Ranger" or Kimberly Hart in the much anticipated reboot.
According to MTV News, Moretz is more than happy to be part of the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" cast and she is already very excited to play her role.
Aside from Moretz, other actors who are already part of the lineup of the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" cast are Jack Gleeson, who is playing Blue Ranger; Michael B. Jordan, who is portraying White/Green Ranger; Roshon Feegan, playing Black Ranger and Jamie Chung, who is said to be portraying Yellow Ranger.
Interestingly, original "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" cast member Jason David Frank has also been booked to take active participation in the movie as the mentor and trainer of the new rangers.
Aside from the lead "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" cast members, "MADtv" comedians Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key are also appearing on the film as "Bulk" and "Skull." Zack Braff has also been reported to be joining the cast as "Alpha 5."
Remarkable actress Meryl Streep is also rumored to be part of the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" cast as evil alien witch "Rita Repulsa." "X-Men" actor Michael Fassbender has been tapped to play galactic conqueror "Lord Zedd" while "Dark Knight Rises" actor Tom Hardy is set to play "Goldar."
News about the official lineup of the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" cast comes just after reports circulated, claiming that Liam Hemsworth and Taylor Lautner have been asked to be part of the film, according to Venture Capital Post.
Both Hemsworth and Lautner were reportedly tapped by producers to play Red Ranger, but the two actors have not yet responded or said yes to the project. The problem is only one of the two hunky Hollywood celebs will be chosen for the role. An update on the casting for Red Ranger is to be announced soon.
The reboot movie of the hit "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" is slated for a July 2016 release.
