Floyd Mayweather Jr. is set to fight Marcos Maidana next on a rematch.
On May 3, after two months since pound-for-pound boxing king Floyd Mayweather Jr. outpointed Latino boxer Marcos Maidana in a very tough welterweight unification in Las Vegas, news broke out that the boxer champ wanted a rematch against his previous opponent and was set on September 13.
However, there are no formal announcements and no deals yet for the rematch to happen. And boxing fans are awaiting confirmations for Floyd Mayweather Jr. next fight.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a professional American boxer and is currently undefeated as a professional. He is a five-division world champion with ten world titles and the lineal championship in four different weight classes. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a two-time Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year and has topped the Forbes and Sports Illustrated lists of the 50 highest paid athletes of 2012 and 2013. He is also currently the highest paid athlete in the world in the Forbes 2014 list.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. fought against numerous world boxing champs. Among his opponents were Arturo Gatti, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley and Miguel Cotto, just to name a few. Negotiations have also been reported that Floyd Mayweather Jr. will fight eight-division word champion Manny Pacquiao. However, the fight was never push through due to various issues between the two parties.
Sources have reported that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has an interest in fighting Amir Khan. A rumor has it that the fight is set on 2015. However, for now Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s next fight is against Marcos Maidana after he won the bout via majority decision in the welterweight unification n MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas last May 3.
To this date, Floyd Mayweather Jr. next fight is yet to be confirmed. But it seemed to be happening as a rematch against Marcos Maidana and is scheduled on September 13 still at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Floyd Maywether Jr.'s WBC and The Ring welterweight titles are at stake, as well as his WBC light middleweight title.
Boxing fans are indeed clamoring for more fights with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and after the rematch against Marcos Maidana, who will be Floyd Mayweather Jr. next fight opponent? Will it be Manny Pacquiao or Amir Khan?
