After Katie Holmes divorce with actor Tom Cruise in 2012, she has an estimated net worth of $25 million. But the current question is: why is she leaving New York City?
According to some reports, Katie Holmes and her daughter Suri Cruise left New York City to move back to California. The 35-year old actress reportedly gave up her New York City crib for a six-bedroom home in the gated community of The Oaks in Calabasas, California. Her new favored community is sharing celebrity suburb homes with Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian.
Katie Holmes gave up her three-bedroom apartment in upscale Chelsea where she had resided after her high-profile divorce since 2012. She then later purchased a stunning six-bedroom, six-bathroom new home for $3.795 million that provides the security and privacy they both need. Katie Holmes believed that their new location gives her a better career chance and much better place to raise her 8-year old daughter.
Katie Holmes secretly purchased the property in California and a $1 million repercussion penalty will be charged if the terms are violated. She recently opened up about her life and living it as normal as it can be than she could in her previous home in New York City.
Reports also stated that now that Katie Holmes had move across the country, Suri will now be closer to her infamous father, Tom Cruise.
Katie Holmes' new home is situated on a lot at the end of an impasse with 6,200 square feet of living space which is a perfect retreat from the sounds and sights of the busy Los Angeles.
With reports that Katie Holmes has already made the move on the down low, she wasted no time in creating a warm and alluring vibe in their new place. Just a few weeks ago, Katie Holmes was seen visiting a rescue shelter in San Fernando Valley where she adopted a Chihuahua named Maple. Though, Katie Holmes and her daughter haven't lived in Los Angeles for some years after previously sharing a $35 million Beverly Hills palatial manor with ex-husband Tom Cruise.
However, Katie Holmes said that the move won't be a huge adjustment and that she had loved living in New York City and definitely misses her former place.
The real reason of the transfer may still be unclear; maybe it's just a move for a much greener pasture for Katie Holmes and to find a better place conducive in raising her daughter Suri Cruise. The $3.795 million purchase did not even dent the $25 million net worth of Katie Holmes.
