Drought In California Destroys The Residents’ Luscious Green Lawns

Today, California faces a historic drought resulting to the destruction of the residents' luscious green lawns.

California has been experiencing the worst drought in four decades. Reservoirs have dried up, rivers have been abridged to a dribble, and green lawns have turned brown. Now, residents and homeowners are either tearing up their lawns or just painting them green.

The drought that the city is currently experiencing has resulted to the destruction of the lawns in the area. Residents are tearing their lawns to conserve the usage of water. Water agencies have boosting the change by posing thousands of dollar rebates to help the residents make the switch to a drought-friendly landscape with improved chances of dry spells survival usual to the local climate.

Other solution that a company has recently introduced is the usage of water-based green paints to transform dead grasses into luscious green lawns again while California is still experiencing the drought. Green Canary, the company which uses the paint said that the spray they use is not actually paint but a water-based solution comparable to food coloring. It is environment, pet and child friendly. The paint job also lasts from 90 to 180 days.

California water agencies have chosen to approve fines of up to $500 a day for residents and homeowners who waste water on their lawns, landscaping and car washing, making the newly introduced service even more appealing.

Water authorities are optimistic that the shift is more than a trend and marks the beginning of an alteration in the way the residents view neighborhood landscapes. Most lawns in California don't bear greenery other than the grass.

For many years, water agencies are focusing in the efficiency and improvements of indoor plumbing to help in water conservation in the time of drought.
