Emmy Awards 2014 Date - The 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards was held on Monday, August 25 at the Nokia Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, California. The ceremony was hosted for the first time by comedian and host Seth Meyers.
The Emmy Awards 2014 is a ceremony held to honor the best primetime television programs in the United States from June 1, 2013 until May 31, 2014.
The Primetime Emmy Awards correspond with the 66th Creative Arts Awards ceremony which was held the previous weekend dated August 16.
The Emmy Awards 2014 ceremony was held on a different scheduled night to avoid conflicts on the scheduled dates of different shows telecast on the same network. The ceremony's weeknight date and start time in Los Angeles created concerns for the rush hour traffic congestion.
The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences had declared changes to several awards and categories that affect the Primetime and Creative Awards.
Among the presenters during the Emmy Awards 2014 were Julia Roberts, Live Schreiber, Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine, Lucy Liu, Matthew McConaughey, Katherine Heigl, Hayden Panettiere, Halle Berry and Zooey Deschanel, to name a few.
Singer Sara Bareilles performed the song "Smile" during the "In Memoriam" portion of the Emmy Awards 2014 ceremony. It was a special tribute to actor Robin Williams who died on August 11, 2014 and was presented by Billy Crystal.
Among the major winners during the awards ceremony were Breaking Bad with five wins, Modern Family and Sherlock: His Last Vow with three wins and American Horror Story: Coven and Fargo with two wins.
Bryan Cranston, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Julianna Marguilies, Allison Janney, Jim Parsons, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, Ty Burell, Jessica Lange and Benedict Cumberbatch were hailed winners in their respective categories on the Emmy Awards 2014 ceremony.
So, congratulations to all the winners and let's hope next year that the Emmy Awards ceremony will be back on its scheduled weekend night instead of the weeknight date.
