American actor Jake Gyllenhaal has recently sacrificed losing 30 pounds from his 180 pound frame for the upcoming thriller, Dan Gilroy's Nightcrawler.

Jake Gyllenhaal's 30 pound loss is part of the deep-seated idea of his Nightcrawler's character. On the film, Jake plays the character of Lou, a fast-talking sleaze ball who chases ambulances to catch footages of accident victims on his camcorder.

Jake Gyllenhaal has also recently acquired a razor-thin scar on the palm of his hand, a permanent memento from the Toronto Film Festival thriller, Nightcrawler which the actor plays a twisted crime paparazzo. The scar was caused by the actor's hitting the mirror on one of its scenes. Jake Gyllenhaal was brought at Cedars-Sinai to stop the bleeding and to stitch him up.

The Brokeback Mountain star, Jake Gyllenhaal's career path has cut just as profound. Four years ago, prior to his losing of 30 pounds, the 33-year old actor made a professional u-turn. He left behind well-notable movies and decided to work with directors who pushed him out of his comfort zone. His new career path may have stunned some fans but critics and audiences are responding well to his idiosyncratic side.

On the film, Jake Gyllenhaal's weight loss of 30 pounds gave his character a haunting look for the night shoot. After the one-year completion of the film, Jake Gyllenhaal has drenched himself on the gym to rebuild his muscles after his remarkable weight loss. He spent six months working out to be back on track.

It is fairly satirical that a Nightcrawler scene that's true to life sorts Jake Gyllenhaal crushing his own image. Nonetheless, he isn't daunted by the role that scarred him. And as his career takes 360 degrees turn, Jake Gyllenhaal remains to be one of the most sought-after and highly acclaimed actors of his generation.
