Manny Pacquiao Next Fight News: Pacquiao Motivated to Hand Chris Algieri His First Loss

Manny Pacquiao will be a heavy favorite in his upcoming fight against Chris Algieri on Nov. 22 at the Venetian Resort in Macau, China.

But while Pacquiao is favored to win, the reigning World Boxing Organization welterweight champion said that he is not taking any chances, saying that he is motivated to score a convincing victory.

In an interview with BoxingScene, Pacquiao said that he knows what Algieri can bring to the table, but he reiterated that he is determined to hand Algieri the first loss of his boxing career.

Pacquiao recently handed Timothy Bradley his first defeat in 32 professional fights and he is looking to the same against Algieri on November 22.

"He is undefeated and a world champion," Pacquiao said of Algieri. "I love to fight undefeated guys. I want them to experience that first defeat."

For the fight against Algieri, Pacquiao's camp reportedly picked Stan Martyniouk to become one of the main sparring partners of the Filipino boxing icon in his Philippine training camp.

Martyniouk said in an interview with BoxingScene that Freddie Roach has already talked to him, and the Hall of Fame trainer reportedly said that his style is similar to Algieri's.

"I ran into Freddie Roach after the fight, and he said he thought my style is close to Chris Algieri, so he asked me if I want to go to the Philippines to be a sparring partner for Manny Pacquiao," Martyniouk said. "I've been out to Wild Card (Boxing Club) for several years. He saw me spar Denis Shafikov, and when he asked me, I told him of course I'd do it."

Martyniouk is confident that he can help Pacquiao prepare better for the Algieri bout, while also adding that his upcoming sparring sessions with the former pound-for-pound king will work wonder for his career similar to what happened to Pacquiao's previous sparring partners.

"I think I can do a good job emulating his style, and it's going to be great exposure for me," Pacquiao said. "Look at all the guys who have sparred Manny in the past: Karim Mayfield, Ray Beltran -- Shawn Porter's now a champ. They're all successful."
