Timothy Ray Jones Jr., a father of five young children in South Carolina is currently facing murder charges for allegedly killing his kids.
According to Lexington County Acting Sheriff Lewis McCarty, Timothy Ray Jones Jr., 32-year old, will be charged with five counts of murder. Timothy allegedly killed his five young children aged one, two, six, seven and eight years old. The authorities believed that he killed his children alone and cast off their bodies in trash bags down a secluded dirt path.
Timothy Ray Jones Jr., who was under arrest Saturday in Raleigh, Mississippi for unrelated charges, was known to be a smart and loving father after surpassing a messy divorce last year from his wife who's also the mother of the five killed children. She was allegedly having an affair with the neighbor.
At a news conference held on Wednesday, Lexington County officials said that they believed that all the five children were killed at the same time but gave no other details and no motive has been revealed. The autopsies were scheduled to begin on Thursday. On Tuesday, Timothy Ray Jones Jr. led investigators to the secluded dirt path off a two-lane highway near Camden, Alabama after confessing to murdering his children succeeding a routine traffic stop in Mississippi.
The father of the five slain children, Timothy Ray Jones Jr. waived his right to an extradition hearing resulting to his return to South Carolina late Wednesday to be charged with five counts of murder, as per the Smith County, Mississippi Sheriff's officials. The accused is an Intel engineer who graduated from the University of Mississippi and who was given the prime custody of his children last year following the divorce.
The five killed children were last seen on August 28 and was reported missing by their mother a day after September 2, the date that the kids was supposed to return home. The case that spread-out over the past two weeks was called a logistical nightmare by the authorities.
The authorities went public with the case after the horrible discovery of the children's bodies on Tuesday afternoon. The father of five, Timothy Ray Jones Jr. faced murder charges on Wednesday along with child neglect. At this point, it is still indistinct if the accused will face death penalty though it is available to South Carolina prosecutors.
A month prior to the murder, an alleged child abuse complaint was received by the State Department of Social Services. Timothy Ray Jones Jr. is still mum about the motive for the killing of his five children. The father of the accused also faced the media and said that his family's hearts are broken and described his son to be loving dad. He also sought the media for their family's privacy to mourn and asked for prayers. He also told the authorities that his son was highly intelligent however as per Mississippi Sheriff Charlie Crumpton, he had trouble analyzing the emotions of the accused during confession.
Timothy Ray Jones Jr. is now charged with five counts of murder for killing his children. As per the family, a memorial will be held for the children on Friday, who were identified through Family Court documents as Abigail, Gabriel, Nahtahn, Elias and Merah.
