The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria has released a communiqué of its new educational policy which bans schools from teaching and studying all others subjects expect Islam.
The militants have banned the studies of math, democracy, social studies and evolution in regions under their control in Syria.
The educational reforms were published on street poles and billboards. A report by CNN quotes one of these public messages: "This is an obligatory announcement, and all violators will be punished". About 200 Syrians are reported to have lost their lives on Wednesday as a result of violating ISIS' new educational law.
The group's brutal streak, which includes the beheading of three westerners on camera, has caused a public uproar and compelled world leaders to intervene with air strikes against the terrorists.
The educational ban, which also extends to music and sports, seeks to restrict schools from teaching subjects that relate to democracy and elections. Additionally, students and classrooms have been barred from having some books - particularly those that propagate ideas contrary to what is presented in the Quran. Reports indicate that teachers have been directed to proclaim that scientific facts "are due to Allah's rules and laws."
Under the new educational laws, teachers are reportedly also barred from teaching ethnic and nationalistic philosophies. References to the Syrian Arab Republic have been vehemently replaced with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria across schools under the control of the jihadists. Teachers have been instructed to propagate Islamic ideologies and "denounce infidelity and infidels".
With claims to 11 oil fields, large parts of Syria and northern Iraq, ISIS is aiming to establish a caliphate or Islamic State. The Sunni jihadists are believed to earn over $3 million dollars daily, making this group one of the most well funded terrorist organizations in history.
