After 20 years, the original D2: The Mighty Ducks cast came together for the film's 20th anniversary on September 21, 2014. The original cast reunited which was documented by mainstay Marguerite Moreau.
It is really hard to believe that the much-loved youthful comedy released in the '90s that depicted the story of coed kids' hockey team coached by Gordon Bombay played by Emilio Estevez has been 20 years when it first came out. Luckily, the D2: The Mighty Ducks cast same together and reunited while celebrating the film's two-decade anniversary.
Marguerite Moreau, one of the D2: The Mighty Ducks cast mainstay documented the reunion. She played the role of Connie Moreau in the film. She attended the reunion with her husband Christopher Redman, who inveterate that the reunion was happening on the social media site, Twitter. Christopher shared several photos from the event which includes the captivating pictures of the attendees forming the esteemed "Flying V" formation on a tennis court.
Marguerite Moreau of the original D2: The Mighty Ducks cast, also posted pictures with her on-screen teammates and with her character's love interest Garrett Henson (Guy Germaine). She captioned the photo saying, "Just saying.... #nofilter #connieandguy #mightyducks #20yearreunion." Marguerite was also featured on Mad Men, Shameless and Grey's Anatomy.
D2: The Mighty Ducks original cast were also photographed in a group hug at the get-together. The members include Mike Vitar (Luis Mendoza), Garrett Henson, Marguerite Moreau, Vincent Larusso (Adam Banks), Aaron Lohr (Dean Portman), and Scott Whyte (Gunnar Stahl). Fascinatingly ample, Scott played the enemy in D2 as Team Iceland's scary captain.
Scott Whyte, D2: The Mighty Ducks cast member, gave an interview last year to The Hockey Writers blog last year, and expressed that it stuns him that he still gets acknowledged often. He said, "It's been 20 years! Here I am, older, much shorter hair, and every week Gunnar pops up at some point. To be recognized for something I did so long ago, I just embrace it. I always get a kick out of saying 'you lost it for yourself' to people that recognize me and see their reaction....priceless." On the same interview, Scott revealed that he's still friendly with the cast. "Every once in a while we reach out, say hi, see if we can come up with something funny to film and put out there, I think it'll happen sometime," he added.
Shaun Weiss also attended the reunion on Sunday, and procured a picture with his younger equal. Strikingly missing from the D2: The Mighty Ducks reunion were some of the film's breakout stars: Joshua Jackson, who played the team's captain Charlie Conway, Kenan Thompson, D2's star player Russ Tyler, and Emilio Estevez, who led Team USA to victory.
Yet, on a Time interview last June, Joshua Jackson disclosed that the Mighty Ducks lingered close to his heart. "I feel like a fourth film should happen, and if there was space for any of the original kids to come back and have a role, I would be surprised that anybody didn't want to do it," he said. He then added, "The next generation should have its own version. Not that we need to come back as adults, but I hope my kids grow up and play pickup hockey and I hope that they have their own movies like my generation had those movies. In that way, yeah, of course, I'd be a part of something like that."
It is really astonishing that even after 20 years, the D2: The Mighty Ducks spirit still dwells within us and captivated the dumbfounding nostalgia that the reunion has elicited to us.
