An ex-employee of UPS Alabama killed two people before he shoots himself dead.
The officers of the Birmingham Police department responded to the call. They entered the facility and found three people dead. Two of them were employees of the company and the gunman himself, who had a gunshot wound described as self-inflicted.
The police who have responded to the incident said they found no other suspects to the crime. Investigation about what happen is going on.
According to the Chief Of Police Of Birmingham, "It will be a very methodical investigation, even though we have a pretty good idea about what transpired inside the business.”
On the other hand, UPS released an official statement in response to the said incident, "The safety of our employees is our primary focus, and UPS is cooperating fully with law enforcement. Our focus now is on assisting the families of the victims, as well as the employees who work in this facility."
Lt. Sean Edwards told WBRC, "It appears that the shooter knew exactly who he wanted to target at the time."
A number of UPS employees who are witnesses to the incident were taken right towards the Birmingham's Boutwell Auditorium. They are going to be interviewed and counseled. It estimated that more than a dozen of people have been interviewed who witnessed the shooting.
One employee had suffered from panic attack right after the incident happened. The said employee is doing okay now.
As of the moment, the UPS facility has been lock down. The authorities are still continuing to gather evidence right from the crime scene.
The Chief commented on the incident, "extremely troubling for the city, for these families that are involved, because when these people came to work today they had no idea this would be their last day on earth."
