Los Angeles Lakers Roster News: Jeremy Lin Ready To Shine In Purple And Gold

Jeremy Lin is looking forward to playing his first game in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform, and the popular point guard insisted that he is ready to play a big role for the team in the 2014-15 NBA season.

Lin, who was acquired by the Lakers in an offseason trade with the Houston Rockets, said in an interview that he will be very aggressive on both ends of the floor, knowing that defense will be the Lakers' priority this year.

"This season I definitely want to be aggressive, be a play-maker," Lin said via Lake Show Life. "I just want to be dynamic and explosive in different ways. I just want to bring it defensively and try to build, I worked a lot on this in the off-season. So hopefully being able to chase some of these other guards around and make it hard for them."

The 26-year-old point guard knows that their offense will revolve around Kobe Bryant, but Lin said that he will also do his best to become a threat to opposing teams, saying that his main weapon will be his ability to attack the basket.

"I think my bread and butter will always be attacking the basket," Lin added. "I think, just to become smarter, cutting down on the turnovers, being able to hit a shot more consistently, make better decisions. I think the more consistently and efficiently you do things, the tougher it is just to guard you over the course of 48 minutes versus one stretch where you're playing well, one stretch you're struggling, just trying to maintain that level throughout."

Lakers coach Byron Scott already likes what he is seeing from Lin in their training camp, citing the former Harvard University standout's effort on the defensive end of the floor and the way he pushes the ball.

"I like him a lot. I really do," Scott said of Lin via LA Times. "On defense he really knows where to be. He's gritty, just like I knew he would be. He's going to guard you to the best of his ability, and he never gives up on a play. Offensively he runs the team. He gets to the basket. I love the way he pushes the ball in the open floor."
