B.B King Cancels Tour- Legendary blues singer and guitarist B.B King has called off the rest of his U.S. tour after being diagnosed with dehydration and exhaustion.
Reports indicate that the 89-years old Mississippi native was performing at the House of Blues in Chicago on Friday when he took ill. King was immediately examined by a doctor who confirmed his condition.
He was unable to continue the performance and afterwards announced the tour's cancellation. He had just 8 shows left to play, which included gigs at Charleston, W.V, Pittsburgh, Ind and Fort Wayne. He was also scheduled to grace the stage at his own club in New York called the B.B King Blues Club & Grill next week.
Many fans have sent cheering messages to the Blues icon; telling him to take his time to rest and get well soon.
Many well wishers took to King's Facebook page express their messages to the singer, who is considered one of the most influential blues musicians. King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and into the 2014 class of the R&B Hall of Fame
"Very sad to hear the news of BB King's sickness and subsequent cancellation of the tour. The band and I wish him a safe speedy recovery," Hamish Anderson, B.B Kings tour opener said on Twitter.
A statement published on Monday on bbking.com - the singer's official website - said" Mr. King is back home and feeling better. He wants to thank all of his fans and friends for their outpouring of love and concern."
King suffers from Type II diabetes and has lived with the disease for the past 20 years.
B.B King's tour cancellation will nonetheless come as a disappointment to many who were set to see him live. The singer, who is known for touring widely, is believed to have played over 15,000 performances during the span of his career. He reportedly tours for about 300 days in a year.
