The two victims of the 49ers bathroom fight this weekend are reported to have sustained serious injuries, according to Deborah Hernandez, a Santa Clara County public prosecutor.
Both men, who are cousins, were drawn into a brawl with two brothers prior to the game between San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs at the Levi Stadium on Sunday.
Reports indicate that the 49ers bathroom fight began after one of the victims tapped the suspect on his shoulders to alert him of a vacant bathroom. But the suspect did not take too kindly to being alerted in that manner and attacked the victim with punches. The intense scuffle eventually sucked in the victim's cousin and the suspect's brother. Amateur video recording from witnesses present at the 49ers bathroom fight shows the two suspects, who have since been identified as Dario, 34, and Amador Rebollero, 27, brutally attacking their victims.
The prosecutor has revealed that one of the victims is severely injured and "has some bleeding to the brain." She added that "He has had to have part of his skull removed to relieve some of that pressure. He is currently suffering some paralysis."
The Rebollero brothers were charged with felony assault at the Santa Clara County Superior Court on Wednesday for their part in the 49ers bathroom fight. Bail for Dario and Amador, who were taken into custody immediately after the infamous bathroom fight at the 49ers stadium, has been set at $350,000 and $75,000 respectively. The case is set to resume later in the month.
Meanwhile, the 49ers management has released a statement to express their "deepest concerns and well wishes to the victims." The team has also praised the Santa Clara Police Department for responding quickly to quell the fight.
The 49ers bathroom fight has led to increased calls for better security at football games. Currently, stadium security and police officers are present at every game to provide safety. Last month, fans of the 49ers were involved in another clash with supporters of Arizona Cardinals in the University of Phoenix stadium, Glendale, AZ.
