Northwest Louisiana reporting loud boom - Several news outposts from Northwest Louisiana are reporting a loud boom which was allegedly heard late on Monday afternoon at about 4:27 p.m.
Many local journalists in Northwest Louisiana reporting the loud boom have confessed to hearing the reverberation of the sound themselves. Reports indicate that the sound was audible at points across ArkLaTex (a region which covers Southwest Arkansas, Northwest Louisiana and Northwest Texas).
There are claims that there was heavy vibration on the floor at about the same time the loud boom rang through the air. At least one resident has told the press that the she was convinced her walls would cave in as they shook profusely.
It is unclear what the source of this Northwest Louisiana loud boom reports actually is. There had been some speculations that the blast came from an oil explosion which occurred in the region. But officials have insisted that there have been no explosions in the area and the fire department has not received notification about any blast or fire outbreak.
Geologists have put claims that there was an earthquake to rest after they announced that there has been no unnatural seismic activity in the region recently. Also, meteorologists have dispelled reports that the explosive loud boom reported in Northeast Louisiana was caused by lighting.
The National Weather Service in Shreveport has announced that some debris was visible south of the Wallace Lake at about the same time the explosion reportedly occurred. The debris, which rose to about 1,500 feet in the air before drifting away, is consistent with another debris seen after an explosion in Camp Minden in 2012, says Marty Mayeaux, a senior forecaster.
Reports indicate that the debris remained visible for at least one hour and thirty minutes after the northwest Louisiana loud boom was reported. Meteorologists are puzzled about the fact that there have been no reports of unusual activity, despite the visibility of debris.
Many national and local news outposts in Northeast Louisiana are still reporting on the loud boom days after it occured. Meanwhile, the local police are searching the area for the source of the mysterious sound.
