Former "Glee" star Charice Pempengco is set to be reunited with famous talk show host Oprah Winfrey in an upcoming episode of "Where Are They Now?" The Filipina singer, who rose to popularity through You Tube, posted a photo taken with Oprah in her social media account, Instagram.
Charice Pempengco, who was last seen in 2010, answered Oprah's questions about her single "Pyramid," and about her sexuality, which sat as a huge question on many people's mind. In an episode airing this Sunday, Charice made a revelation that will finally stop the rumors. On her Instagram post, Charice's new look is currently fueling some controversy.
Charice Pempengco, better known as Charice by the American audience, is a Filipino singer who rose to fame through You Tube. She was dubbed by Oprah Winfrey as the most talented girl in the world. In 2010, she released her first international studio album, "Charice." The album entered the Billboard 200 at number eight, making her the first Asian solo singer to land in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 albums chart.
To date, Charice Pempengco's single, "Pyramid," featuring singer Iyaz, is her most successful single. It ranked within the Top 40 in a number of nations after its The Oprah Winfrey Show debut where she sang live vocals. She then joined the cast of hit television series "Glee" as Sunshine Corazon. She also released "Before It Explodes," which was written by Bruno Mars, as the lead single from her second international studio album, "Infinity."
Two years ago, Charice Pempengco signed on to be one of the four judges of "The X Factor" Philippines. Also around that time, Charice braved nasty criticisms from the Internet and the press after she decided to change her hairstyle and clothing into a look she called as "edgy and rock." On April 2013, she was asked about her sexuality after several photos of herself posing in boyish attire appeared on Instagram and other social media sites.
Meanwhile, E! News reported that on Oct. 19, Charice Pempengco will reappear as one of the featured guests of Oprah Winfrey in an episode of her show. A snippet clip showed Charice along with Carmen Electra, radio and television personality Shadoe Stevens and singer Macy Gray. On Charice's Instagram photo, she showed off a blond buzz cut and black top with the host Oprah.
"Who's excited to see this? #O #wherearetheynow #Oprah @oprah," Charice Pempengco's caption on her Instagram account.
While Charice Pempengco's Instagram photo may come as a surprise to many, it's not exactly a change that just happened overnight. The 22-year-old You Tube singing sensation started to change her image around the same time that she emerges as gay.
"Yes, I am a tomboy," Charice Pempengco revealed in 2013, using an informal Filipino word for lesbian. "I don't know what's the problem with that. Because for me, there isn't a problem with that."
With her upcoming appearance and revelations on Oprah's Where Are They Now episode airing this Sunday night, the emerging controversies about Charice Pempengco's latest Instagram look will be finally put to rest.
